The English Premier League is the biggest domestic sporting competition in the world. Its games are available in over 870 million homes worldwide and it attracts an incredible 3.2 billion viewers. It’s no surprise then that billions of pounds are spent on Premier League TV rights; with much more being wagered on the 380 games played every single season.

Who Shows the Premier League on TV?
Premier League broadcasting rights for the 2023/24 season were split between Sky Sports, TNT Sports, and Amazon Prime Video. You can watch TNT Sports through the Discovery+ app, but it is also available through TV packages like Sky and BT TV. Sky Sports requires a Now TV or Sky TV subscription while Prime Video comes with an Amazon Prime subscription.
Premier League Broadcasting Rights for 2025 to 2029
The latest round of packages for Premier League games was sold in 2023 for a record £6.7bn. It outlines how all games will be shown from the start of the 2025/26 season until the end of the 2028/29 season. Sky Sports secured the best packages, ensuring it will continue to lead the way. Here are some key takeaways from this mega deal:
- Sky purchased 4 packages, the maximum allowed for a single broadcaster, including:
- 4:30 pm Sunday games (Super Sunday)
- Final day action
- TNT bought the other package, giving it
- A total of 52 games
- All Saturday games with a kick-off time of 12:30 pm
- BBC will continue to show highlights of all games on Match of the Day
- Amazon did not bid
Interestingly, the deal covers more games than ever before. 3 pm Saturday kick-offs will still not be shown live (though they will be shown as highlights), but all other EPL games will be live on one of the two platforms.
Which Teams Appear in the Most Live Premier League Games
Broadcasters can pick which games to show, so it’s no surprise that the biggest and most entertaining teams receive the most air time. In the 2023/24 season, Newcastle appeared more times than any other team. Considering the impact that the Toon Army had during the previous season, it’s easy to see why so many NUFC games were chosen. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea were also picked for many games.
Fulham made the fewest appearances, with Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Luton Town, Burnley, and Bournemouth all making just a few appearances.
How Much Does it Cost to Watch the Premier League on TV?
Watching all live Premier League football on TV during the 2023/24 season would cost you £61.97 per month:
- Sky = From £22.99 per month*
- Amazon Prime = £8.99 per month
- TNT Sports = £29.99 per month**
*Does not include any setup costs or basic packages.
*Via a Discovery+ subscription
How to Watch Live Premier League Football On TV for Less
Watching live Premier League games is expensive. Technically, watching all of the league’s televised games from the 2023/24 season will be cheaper, as you only need a TNT Sports and Sky Sports subscription, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Firstly, Amazon’s package was very cheap compared to the usual cost of premium sports subscriptions, especially when you consider all the extras it offered (including Prime shipping and a glut of films and original programming).
Secondly, in an age where everything seems to be getting more expensive, what are the odds that Sky Sports and TNT Sports subscriptions will remain the same? You could even argue that Sky would be justified in increasing the price, as there will be more games than ever before.
So, what can you do to reduce the price?
Well, as far as we can see, the cheapest option is to get a Sky subscription and add TNT Sports. There are always deals available and these help to bring the price down. At the time of writing, you can get a Sky subscription with Sky Sports, Sky Entertainment, and Netflix for £46 a month. TNT Sports is then available for an additional £25.
Once your contract is over (the above example is for an 18-month contract) contact them to discuss reducing your bill by removing Sky Sports. They will likely offer you a deal to encourage you to keep it on your subscription. As far as we know, this doesn’t work with TNT Sports via Sky, nor does it work with Discovery+. Some subscription services will offer you a free month or a half-priced month when you quit. We tried this with Discovery+ and they let us go without resistance and without any offers.
Now TV also has a great offer that lets you access all Sky Sports channels for £34.99 a month. Although it’s more expensive than the £22.99 you’ll pay to add a Sports package to your existing Sky subscription, it doesn’t require a contract (you can cancel at any time) and you don’t need to sign up for any other TV packages either. You can then get TNT Sports separately and pay less overall, albeit without all the extras provided by Sky.
Always check the terms and conditions of the deal before you accept.
Where Can I Bet On Live Premier League Games?
Football usually has the biggest selection of any sport on any betting site, and unsurprisingly, the Premier League has the most markets. So, you can bet on Premier League games on all UK betting sites.
To bet while the games are active, the site needs to have live betting. Again, this option is available everywhere, but some sites are better than others. Many smaller sites, for instance, limit live betting options to basic goal markets. If you stick with bigger sites like bet365, you’ll have dozens of live betting options to choose from. bet365 is also very quick when it comes to reactivating markets following suspensions (which occur during major match moments like penalty appeals and goals).
