Boyle Sports were once the main sponsor for Sunderland AFC, but let’s not hold that against them. It’s how I was first introduced to the brand and it’s also around the time that I first joined the site, some 13/14 years ago now.
For the purposes of this Boyle Sports review, I made a brief return to see if anything had changed now that the brand is no longer associated with the lesser half of Tyne and Wear.
And before you get angry at me for discriminating against Mackems. I’m allowed to say that. Because it’s true.
Bonuses and Promotions
I have always wondered why gift cards aren’t more common in the sports betting industry. I know several people who would love to receive some cash in a sportsbook for their birthday or Christmas. I’m the same. And yet Boyle Sports is one of the only sites that actually offer this option.
It’s not really a loyalty promotion, but it’s worth mentioning, nonetheless.
Other promotions available to Boyle Sports players include ACCA refunds, bet boosts, cashback offers, and the occasional free bets. They don’t go crazy when it comes to bonuses and promotions, but the same could be said for many sportsbooks. Most gambling brands reserve their biggest offers and most eye-catching promotions for their casinos.
Boyle Sports are not as forthcoming on the welcome bonus side of things. At the time of writing, there isn’t actually one available, although I’m writing at a pretty awkward time when most sites have just finished major event-based promotions and are preparing for the next one.
Still, I can’t give them a pass for this as they are a major UK betting site and should really have a bonus available at all times. It’s a competitive industry and these offers are how sites differentiate themselves.
Make sure you check the promotions section to see if anything has changed before you sign up for a Boyle Sports account.
Software and Betting Options
Boyle Sports is like the Irish love child of Ladbrokes and William Hill. The layout is very similar to the former (and has some of the same niggling issues) while the colour scheme is similar to the latter.
It makes for a nice effect, although I would have preferred if it had inherited more of its genes from William Hill, as it’s a cleaner and more intuitive site.
As far as the betting options are concerned, there are a lot of great markets for football and horse racing, as well as many bonuses and promotions themed around these sports.
I place a lot of football bets and I like to use different sportsbooks for different reasons. bet365 has the greatest variety and Bet Builder options. William Hill has the best “Booking Points” bets and solid pre-made wagers. kwiff has the supercharged feature. Betfair is good for prop bets.
Where Boyle Sports is concerned, it has some of the most unique player bets I have seen. You can bet on numerous Under/Over options for player shots, for instance. You can even wager on how many of those will be with their left or right foot. I don’t recall seeing these options on any other site, and I’ve been doing this for a long time.
Boyle Sports also has some decent price boosts, an “Invent a Bet” feature for in-game multiples, and a wide selection of live betting markets.
The options get a little weaker once you move away from the biggest sports and leagues, but it still covers a wide range of options.
Customer Support
The Boyle Sports customer support team is available by email, telephone, and live chat. There is also an FAQ section that covers most areas.
There’s not much to report in this area, but that’s a good thing, as this is often the part where I moan about slow and unhelpful responses.
Verdict: Boyle Sports Review
I can’t remember why I stopped using Boyle Sports all those years ago. In some cases, I turn my back on a site because I don’t like the software/betting options or because I have a bad experience with the support. Most of the time, it’s because the site isn’t distinctive enough to warrant sticking around.
That was probably true for Boyle Sports. It just didn’t make enough of an impression.
But it certainly left its mark this time around. It’s an impressive site that has a lot going for it, and while it doesn’t excel with live streams, welcome bonuses, and 100% unique features, it does tick a lot of boxes and throw some interesting bets into the mix.
It definitely won’t be another 10+ years before I return to Boyle Sports.
